The Ridge School make posters for Readathon day

The Ridge boys made posters promoting the joys of reading on national Readathon Day. They also held a sponsored read to raise funds to support literacy and reading programmes in less privileged schools.

Readathon day was given over to presentations on the power of reading, books and stories and the privilege of education. Audrey Hitchcock, an acclaimed authority on children’s books, brought the boys up to date with the new and not so new trends in reading; Hooked on Books entertained them professionally as always; the boys were awed by the courage and tenacity of Alex Harris when he told his story of trekking to the South Pole with Sibusiso Vilane earlier this year. And they learnt something of the art of filmmaking, animation in particular, from Werner Malherbe of AFDA.
