Cable theft on the increase
There is at least one attempt at cable theft each day in Johannesburg. This is the startling revelation from City Power CEO Silas Zimu, who says the problem is escalating.
Parkview SAPS communications officer, Captain Cynthia Magoai, said that the most recent cases of cable theft were reported in Emmarentia and Roosevelt Park this past weekend, but would not divulge the number of cables stolen or their worth.
