The Ridge come out top at local hockey festival

The Ridge 1st XI hockey participated in the centenary hockey festival at King Edward Preparatory School and won the tournament, having competed against high calibre schools including Pridwin, KEPS, St. John’s and St. David’s. The team is Brian Pfaff (captain), Nicholas Colley (vice captain), Ben Johnston, Murray Leith, Stuart Stopforth, James Wales, Dominic Pickard,Tom Webber (not in pic), Tom Fleming, Walter Pfaff (not in pic), Daniel Coughlan and Christopher Brownlee and the coach is Mr J Fourie.

The Ridge School make posters for Readathon day

The Ridge boys made posters promoting the joys of reading on national Readathon Day. They also held a sponsored read to raise funds to support literacy and reading programmes in less privileged schools.

The Ridge Grade 7s put on Romeo and Juliet

The Ridge School's Grade 7s recently performed Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet to great acclaim.

Read the comments from one parent: "Congratulations on the flamboyant play! Hearty congratulations must also be extended to the Grade 7s, who clearly have talent in abundance. From what I have heard from inside sources, the characters of this classic love story began to seep into many of the actors’ psyches because there was a constant titter about dresses, enormous crosses and the colour of Juliet’s wig.

Ridge boys make broth for banquet

The Grade 2s of the Ridge School have been hard at work preparing for their medieval banquet to be held today, 12 June. The boys look forward to being knighted by “Sir Channon” aka Mr Paul Channon, Headmaster, at the banquet.

Ridge boy scores

Barrie Forrester-Smith of The Ridge School was recently selected by The Johannesburg Primary Schools' Football Assocation to represent their 'A-side'. They will compete in the up and coming Bill Stewart Tournament, hosted in Johannesburg at the JCE Fields.

The Ridge School's tour to the UK, continued

While some Ridge boys played the marimbas in the UK, others played cricket and hockey. The cricket team won 7 and drew 1 out of the 8 matches they played. Some of the notable performers in the batting were:

Marimbas....

The Ridge School recently played host to a Dulwich College Preparatory School (London) music tour. The school and visitors were entertained by the marimba players and a traditional South African braai.
