Parkview Junior School needs your old magazines!!
This gorgeous little school has been chosen as one of 10 schools to participate in Mondi's Recycling magazine campaign. Over the next 6 months (May to October), pupils will collect magazines and glossy leaflets. These will be weighed and placed in special Mondi recycling bins at the school. There are cash prizes for the pupil who collects the highest tonnage every month over the 6 month period. While the school stands to win R10 000 per month.

Bandanna Day fun

It was fun for a serious cause as Parkview Junior School learners wore their bandannas on the 23 September. Bandannas are sold in aid of the Sunflower Fund, which supports the Bone Marrow Registry. Buy yours at Pick 'n Pay for R15 if you haven't already.

The Imagination Tree at Parkview Junior

Parkview Junior learners are currently playing in The Imagination Tree, a play written by Grade 2 teacher, Camille Lagarrigue. My Parks caught up with some aspiring thespians off stage, where excitement levels were high and fun was the name of the game.

The long wait

One of the most important things you can do for your children is to send them to a good school - even if it does mean camping outside the school in the dead of winter! This was the scene outside Parkview Junior School on Wednesday morning - the queue for out-of-area children trying to get into the school. The first person arrived at 10.30am on Tuesday morning and the queue grew steadily through the night.

Parkview Schools Sports Day 2008

Saturday 26 July saw Parkview Junior and Senior Schools competing in their annual Sports Day. Eagles, Kestrels, Falcons and Hawks were the brightly coloured houses who ran their fastest on the day.

Young entrepreneurs at PVJ

Break up day was also Entrepreneurial Day for the Grade 2s at Parkview Junior School. Marbles, fudge and hot chocolate were some of the many options on sale to their schoolmates and teachers.

Parkview Junior comes first in South Africa

Parkview Junior is rightly proud of the Maths Whizzes in Grade 3 who won the coveted first place in South Africa in the World Maths Day Challenge.

The online challenge was held on the 5 March 2008. Seven Parkview Junior learners were among the top 50 learners in the country and three were in the top 10. The children were presented with certificates, silver medals and a magnificent trophy at their school assembly on the 9 June 2008.

Grade 8s read to Parkview Juniors

Parktown High School for Girls Grade 8s had a project to create a children's book. Once completed, the girls went accross the road to read to the children of Parkview Junior School.

Fun in the sun at PVJ

A beautiful Saturday morning was the perfect setting for the official opening of the new Netball court at Parkview Junior School. A mini obstacle course around the school kept the kids occupied, and tea and cake kept the biggies going.

POP at Parkview Junior School

Parkview Junior School had a novel approach to the two lonely days of school in the middle of two long weekends. POP or Power Outage Party - pirates and princesses came to school (and a few punks and pink people, too) with picnic hampers packed with popcorn, pizza, pineapples and pretzels, etc.
