Security tips and new modus operandi being used by criminals

Do not display expensive jewellery/watches in public. A number of reported follow-home incidents have occurred in 2011 throughout Johannesburg. These criminals who follow you home are professionals and will execute their plan having followed you back totally undetected from shopping centres and other public places.

Always be vigilant and totally aware of your surroundings. If you suspect you are being followed, either drive to the nearest police station or contact the CSS Tactical TOC on 0861 911 119 if you are driving in a CSS protected area. Inform the controller of your exact location and a CSS patrol van should reach you within minutes, if not seconds.

Sometimes these properties house criminals or stolen goods, there may be no dangerous elements on the premises whatsoever however it is better to be safe than sorry. CSS have teams like the Strike Team who will check these locations out accompanied by the SAPS.
