Taxi slams into light pole
Two people have tragically died when the taxi they were travelling in slammed into a light pole on the Jo Slovo onramp to the M1 on July 23 at around 6am. It is purported that the driver lost control while rounding a bend, his vehicle collided with the Armco barriers before slamming into the light pole.
When paramedics arrived on scene they found that the roof of the taxi was ripped off with the force of the impact. Tragically two people had died due to the extensive injuries that they had sustained, two others were critically injured, three people sustained serious injuries and five escaped with only minor injuries.
The Netcare 1 medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene to assist with the stabilising of the injured. Paramedics and emergency personnel worked fervently to stabilise the injured on scene.
One of the critically injured patients were airlifted to the Netcare Millpark hospital while the other patients were transported by ambulance to various hospitals for the treatment that the required.
