Police warn motorists
Torrents of rain on Friday night have caused some roads in Johannesburg to become dangerous, Johannesburg Metro Police said.
Serious flooding has struck three areas in Johannesburg, said Inspector Edna Mamonyane.
The M1 northbound on the Jan Smuts offramp has become completely flooded.
Malibongwe drive in Witkoppen in the North Riding area has experience severe flooding.
"We're going to be forced to try to close the road because we don't want anyone washed away," said Mamonyane.
In the west of Johannesburg Dekker and Impala roads in Allen's Nek are flooded.
"Motorists and everyone out there, if you see water flooding and don't know how deep it is don't try to cross over," said Mamonyane.
"If it's possible, people should try to wait until the rain has stopped and the water has subsided."
