Parkview Junior comes first in South Africa
Parkview Junior is rightly proud of the Maths Whizzes in Grade 3 who won the coveted first place in South Africa in the World Maths Day Challenge.
The online challenge was held on the 5 March 2008. Seven Parkview Junior learners were among the top 50 learners in the country and three were in the top 10. The children were presented with certificates, silver medals and a magnificent trophy at their school assembly on the 9 June 2008.
More than 1,5 million learners from 20 000 schools in 180 countries participated in the second World Maths Day. 179 schools participated from South Africa with a large number of individual entries too. A total of 2 645 259 questions were answered by South African children.

World Maths Day is held every year in March. The aim was to break the previous record of 38 million questions answered on World Maths Day and reach the 50 million mark.
